Assam Police's Major Breakthrough: Key ABT-JAM Operative Arrested in Kokrajhar

In a significant operation, the Special Task Force (STF) of Assam Police apprehended a key operative of the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JAM) in Kokrajhar district.

Arrest Details:

Individual: Gazi Rahman, 35 years old

Residence: Bhodeyaguri area, Kokrajhar district

This arrest is part of the ongoing "Operation Praghat," initiated by the STF to dismantle terror modules operating in the region. With Rahman's apprehension, the STF has now arrested a total of 12 jihadi cadres associated with ABT and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) from Assam, West Bengal, and Kerala.

Background:

The ABT, a Bangladesh-based terrorist organization, has been actively trying to establish sleeper cells in India, particularly in Assam and West Bengal. Their objective includes recruiting youth and orchestrating subversive activities across the country. The STF's proactive measures have been instrumental in thwarting these attempts, ensuring the safety and security of the state.

Official Statement:

Partha Sarathi Mahanta, Inspector General of Police (STF), emphasized the significance of this arrest, stating that it marks a substantial breakthrough in the ongoing investigation. He reiterated the STF's commitment to bringing all individuals connected to such anti-national activities to justice and ensuring the state's security.

Conclusion:

The STF's relentless efforts under "Operation Praghat" continue to play a crucial role in dismantling terror networks and maintaining peace in the region. The recent arrest in Kokrajhar underscores the dedication of Assam Police to safeguarding its citizens from potential threats.
